Several factors can cause companies to set unrealistic sales goals, which can have a negative effect on their sales teams, writes Robert Moskowitz. "The most effective sales goals are high enough to be motivating, yet low enough to be achievable by most of the people on your team," he advises. The skill level of salespeople and the state of the market should be considered when setting goals, he writes.
