Etsy finds customized e-mails double sales in tests

Online retailer Etsy is testing personalized e-mails with recommendations tailored to shoppers' preferences. Etsy found in one example that sending custom e-mails made recipients twice as likely to return to the website to make a purchase than those who received a generic e-mail. The specialized e-mails had an added benefit of showcasing a variety of sellers, according to the company.
