FTC leader asks Congress for better data privacy laws

FTC Commissioner Julie Brill is asking Congress to require better "data broker" transparency. In an address at Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School, Brill said that consumers should be able to opt out of marketing profiling and correct information in the data collected on them. She is also asking Congress to pass a baseline data privacy law and a federal data security law.
