Monsanto makes MIT's list of 50 smartest firms in the U.S.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology named Monsanto as one of the 50 smartest technology companies in the U.S. The St. Louis-based biotech, which occupied the 33rd spot in the MIT Technology Review list, was recognized for its efforts to help meet the increasing demand for food and clothing worldwide. "Monsanto's experience in both the genetic modification and cross-breeding of crops could be even more valuable in the coming years, as agriculture faces unprecedented pressures from population growth and climate change," MIT Technology Review Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Jason Pontin said.
