States focus on extending health coverage to young adults

More than 13 million Americans ages 19 to 29 lack health insurance, and more states are focusing on extending coverage to this group. Data from the Commonwealth Fund shows that if states extended dependent coverage to at least age 23, more than 1.4 million additional young people would have coverage. The National Conference on Insurance Legislators plans to vote on a dependent policy in two weeks.
