Taiwan, China to experiment with bank deal

Banking regulators in Taipei and Beijing have reached an agreement to allow Taiwan's Fubon Bank to invest in China's Xiamen Commercial Bank via Fubon's subsidiary in Hong Kong. The move is seen as a case study in overcoming obstacles to economic ties between the two countries. It is currently illegal for Taiwanese banks to invest in China.
