Cat might use retirees, others if workers strike

Caterpillar has started to contact retirees and laid-off workers in case its United Auto Workers decide to strike next year. The company also is gauging how well salaried and office workers might be able to help on the manufacturing floor. Cat used these same tactics during a strike successfully in the early 1990s.
