HHS to investigate PHR use among Medicare beneficiaries

HHS is planning later this year to poll 500 Medicare recipients about their experience with using personal health record applications. The agency said understanding "why consumers, and specifically Medicare beneficiaries, elect to use PHRs and what functionality they want from a PHR" is paramount if they are to leverage the technology to help consumers manage their health and link to their physicians' electronic health records systems.
