HHS panel bolsters nationwide health information network efforts

The Health IT Policy Committee of the HHS plans to release over the next few weeks its recommendations for expanding the nationwide health information network to providers who need simple methods to exchange health information. "States and state organizations are hungry for guidance on how they should use the funds that are becoming available for planning to expedite health information exchange," said Dr. David Blumenthal, national health IT coordinator, who recently announced HIE grants to various state groups.
