Los Angeles launches $1.55B airport expansion

Los Angeles is breaking ground on a $1.55 billion addition to its international airport, including a 1.25 million-square-foot expansion of the Bradley International Terminal. The plans do not include following the FAA's recommendation to reconfigure two runways to reduce the risk of collision. A report prepared by academic experts and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has countered the FAA's claims, saying the changes would make the airport only marginally safer.
