Report: Toyota boasted about heading off major recall in 2007

Toyota Motor said in an internal presentation that it saved more than $100 million in 2007 by limiting a recall in response to complaints of sudden acceleration. The report is in materials Toyota gave Congress in connection with the U.S. lawmakers' investigation into the automaker's safety and recall issues. A portion of the presentation, titled "Wins for Toyota & Industry," mentions "favorable recall outcomes" and "secured safety rulemaking favorable to Toyota."
