Winter storms hurt freight traffic on U.S. railroads

Winter storms caused a sharp drop in carloads hauled by U.S. freight railroads from the end of January to mid-February, according to the Association of American Railroads. New carloads declined to 257,823 units in the week ended Feb. 13, down from from 268,033 a week earlier.
