Conn. lawmakers hold hearing on proposed education reforms

A two-day hearing that began Tuesday has Connecticut lawmakers considering a package of education reforms proposed by Gov. Dannel Malloy that includes changes to teacher tenure and certification. Malloy and supporters of the proposal testified at the hearing to promote and defend the changes. However, union leaders expressed several concerns, including whether certification and tenure should be tied to an untested evaluation system.
