GM, Peugeot work toward European car manufacturing partnership

General Motors and the French carmaker Peugeot Citroen have reached an advanced stage in negotiations toward a joint venture to build cars and automotive components in Europe. If the deal is successful, GM's Opel/Vauxhall unit and Peugeot would become partners in developing engines, transmissions and cars, they said.
