Ravitch: Standardized tests do not measure learning

In this blog, education historian Diane Ravitch criticizes the new teacher-evaluation system adopted in New York for its reliance on students' standardized test scores to rate teachers' effectiveness. While she believes teachers should be evaluated, Ravitch writes that standardized tests do not accurately measure what students have learned. "This is madness," she writes of the evaluation system.
