Industry pushes back on N.J. food-label bill

A New Jersey bill that would require food labels to indicate whether ingredients are bioengineered would "hurt New Jersey household budgets" without delivering benefits, said Linda Doherty, president of the New Jersey Food Council. The FDA "maintains there is no difference in safety between bioengineered foods and those produced by conventional means," she said.
