Administrative costs of getting green certification deter some builders

For fast-growing retailers and banks that can open more than 100 locations a year, building green is proving to be a challenge -- not necessarily due to the construction costs, but the administrative costs associated with getting the buildings certified as green. One bank's solution has been to speed up the process by getting a bulk approval from the U.S. Green Building Council for all new branches.
