Fed's Ferguson stepping down

Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Roger Ferguson, a long time ally of former Chairman Alan Greenspan, announced Wednesday he would be leaving his post, effective April 28. Bloomberg reports that the departure of Ferguson, whose tenure on the Fed's Board of Governors spanned eight years, will likely make it easier for new Fed chief Ben S. Bernanke to garner support at the Fed for a numerical inflation goal.
