Column: Airport-airline courtship is subtle, complex

Columnist Arnie Weissmann describes how airports and airlines try to court one another, likening a recent industry event to speed dating. He explains how airlines tell airports that they'll provide service when the destinations prove they can draw traffic, while the airports will respond that drawing traffic will be difficult until they have service. "I ultimately concluded that human courtship is nowhere near as subtle, time-consuming or complex as route development," Weissmann wrote.
