California court sides with employer on sick leave

Companies that provide unlimited sick leave are not automatically obligated to provide that time off to care for family members, the California Supreme Court ruled. Pacific Bell employees brought a class-action lawsuit against the employer five years ago, saying they should be able to use the state's "kin care" law to get paid sick leave.
