S.C. may end stipend program for new NBCTs under proposed budget

Bonuses for new National Board Certified Teachers in South Carolina would end as of July 1 under a budget proposal being considered by lawmakers. NBCTs currently receive $7,500 annually. The proposed budget assumes that the state will not receive an infusion of up to $200 million in federal dollars. The budget proposal includes five furlough days for teachers.
