Small-business loans may be removed from watchdog's purview

TARP's special inspector general, Neil Barofsky, has asked the Treasury Department not to exclude his office from overseeing the administration's plans for $30 billion in small-business lending. In a recent letter, Barofsky told the Treasury Department that eliminating his oversight was "contrary to the best interests of the taxpayer."
