Small-business loans might be removed from watchdog's purview

The Troubled Asset Relief Program's special inspector general, Neil Barofsky, asked the Treasury Department not to exclude his office from overseeing the Obama administration's plan for $30 billion in small-business lending. In a recent letter, Barofsky told the Treasury that eliminating his oversight would be "contrary to the best interests of the taxpayer."
