Study ranks chemical companies by sustainability performance

A European study found that BASF, Air Liquide and other leading global chemical companies generated a sustainable value worth about $1.4 billion in cash flow in 2007 by using their resources more efficiently than their competitors. Because it used its resources only half as efficiently as its rivals, Dow Chemical landed at the bottom of the sustainability ranking, receiving a sustainable value of -$2.9 billion.
