Toyota's recall crisis is damaging not just the corporation, but also Japan itself, writes Patrick M. Cronin. The Toyota Way was a singularly Japanese success story, so the company's downfall damages the entire country's reputation and erodes its diplomatic influence, Cronin argues. "The global fallout from the tarnishing of Toyota ... is likely to reverberate beyond courthouses and corporate boardrooms," he writes.
