Developments in hydraulic fracturing technology have led to an unprecedented volume of U.S. natural gas production, which stimulates economic activity and job creation, writes Kenneth A. Schwarz, a retired petroleum-exploration geologist. "[B]oosting natural gas production will go a long way toward enabling America to maintain its leadership role in the world economy while avoiding the instability that high energy costs and shortages can engender," Schwarz writes.
