SMART bets on SSD with launch of new Storage Systems company

SMART Storage Systems has been spun off from SMART Worldwide Holdings into a new company to focus entirely on the development and marketing of solid-state drives, which analysts call a robust emerging market. Separately, the company introduced its second SSD product, the enterprise-level Optimus Ultra SSD, which the company says has the endurance to support 25 full random drive writes per day and comes in models with capacities ranging from 150 gigabytes to 1.2 terabytes.
