Analysis: N.D. oil is more combustible than other crude

An analysis by the Wall Street Journal found that crude from North Dakota's Bakken Shale formation is more combustible than crude from 85 other locations worldwide. Data from Louisiana's Capline Pipeline show that sweet crude from the region is easier to ignite because it contains higher vapor pressure. The American Petroleum Institute said it is working with experts to develop guidelines for proper testing and loading of crude into rail cars.
