Paige regrets calling NEA a "terrorist" group

Education Secretary Rod Paige has apologized for saying the NEA was like a "terrorist organization" during a White House meeting on Monday with governors. Paige said he had spoken inappropriately in describing the anti-NCLB "obstructionist scare tactics" of the union's lobbyists. Reg Weaver, president of the NEA, said, "Secretary Paige's comments were pathetic and morally repugnant. They are no laughing matter. When our members learn of his comments, they will be outraged, and even more determined to make changes in the law."
