Indianapolis teachers gear lessons to black youngsters

Khaula Martadha, dean of the School of Education at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, believes teachers too often ignore the individual learning styles and diverse cultural backgrounds of their students. National research says black students benefit from instruction that blends academics with their social lives and common interests.
