Tech makes productivity harder to achieve

The accumulation of communications technologies -- e-mail, voice mail, mobile telephony and mobile e-mail -- has made productivity harder to achieve, according to a recent study. U.S. workers were able to complete roughly two-thirds of daily tasks last year, compared with three-quarters in a similar study conducted in 1994. In part, this is due to increased productivity expectations but also in part to the fragmented attention span of the contemporary office worker.
