Freedom Tower columns make long journey to New York City

Jumbo steel columns that will form the skeleton of the 1,776-foot Freedom Tower got their start in Luxembourg and then made their way to Virginia to be cut to size before being shipped to New York City, where they are being set on top of each other at ground zero. About 9,400 tons of the steel has been ordered so far from supplier ArcelorMittal, and about 50,000 tons will be needed to complete the 102-story building.
