Sensors help make rebuilt Minneapolis bridge safer

Sensors on the St. Anthony Falls Bridge in Minneapolis allow engineers to track maintenance needs, monitor weather conditions and trigger an anti-icing system. The bridge was rebuilt after it collapsed during rush hour in 2007. Experts note that infrastructure spending included in the economic stimulus bill could encourage the use of technology that makes building roads, bridges and mass transit systems faster, safer and more efficient.
