Stimulus package gives $5.5 billion to GSA for building projects

President Barack Obama's economic-stimulus package gives $5.5 billion to the General Services Administration for construction and renovation of federal buildings and courthouses, including $4.5 billion designated for making the buildings used by the government energy-conserving "green" buildings. The government has had a mandate to make federal properties more efficient since 2007, but now it has the money to implement the policy.
