Demand from Asia fuels 40.9% gain for Japan's exporters

Increasing demand in Asia for vehicles, semiconductor products and high-tech consumer goods helped Japan's export sector expand 40.9% in January compared with the same month last year, the Finance Ministry said. Asian customers are becoming increasingly important for Japan's recovery. Of $54.4 billion in goods exported, 55% was destined for other Asian markets. Exports to China jumped 79.9%.
