DTW official defends airport security

Detroit Metro Airport did not "botch" its response to the Christmas Day terrorism attempt, a county aviation official said Tuesday. "It was difficult for us to defend ourselves because the FBI was conducting an investigation and asked us not to talk about our response," said Michael Conway of the Wayne County Airport Authority. While acknowledging that DTW has been the scene of multiple incidents in the past few months, Conway said the airport's layered, unpredictable security is keeping passengers safe.
