Group to push for acceptance of algae-based fuels in Europe

The European Algae Biomass Association wants the European Union to recognize algae-based fuels as a renewable fuel that would qualify for volume-based mandates. The group said that a consortium called Aquafuels soon will release a "sound scientific assessment of algae-based biofuels in terms of both their expected sustainability and increased carbon efficiency."
