Lean manufacturing still makes sense, experts say

Toyota's embrace of lean-manufacturing methods isn't to blame for the company's current crisis, experts say. In fact, the automaker may have gotten into trouble by drifting away from lean principles. "Just like anything else, when done superficially or incompletely lean processes can get you into big trouble," says Frank Murdock, a veteran auto engineer.
