Pilot can sue FAA for public release of medical records

A general aviation pilot can sue the U.S. government for disclosing he was HIV-positive, according to a U.S. Court of Appeals. Pilot Stan Cooper was diagnosed as HIV-positive in 1985, and the Federal Aviation Administration made his confidential medical records public in 2005 after a probe called "Operation Safe Pilot." The appeals court reinstated Cooper's lawsuit against the FAA for damages.
