Predicting survival for very premature infants is difficult

An Australian study in Pediatrics said appearance at birth and early response to resuscitation don't accurately predict survival of premature infants less than 26 weeks' gestation. Researchers suggested that antenatal consultations with parents and a clear management plan at birth are appropriate.
