San Francisco room rates plummet; occupancies see lesser decline

The average daily room rate for hotels in San Francisco declined 15.7% in 2009, dropping to $160.27, from $190.12 a year earlier, according to PKF Consulting. Occupancy rates for the year were down only 4.3% to 75.5% compared with the 78.9% seen in 2008. The city's room and occupancy rates were nevertheless well above the national average.
