No other U.S. sports league has an audience the size of the NBA's outside North America. ComScore estimated that between Aug. 2008 and July 2009 47% of visitors to NBA.com came from Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East and Africa. For the other leagues, the comparable shares of Web audience from outside North America ranged from 7% for the NFL to 12% each for MLB and the NHL. The large global audience gives the NBA an edge when it comes to marketing its streaming packages.
