Survey: Teaching profession is underrated in England

England's teaching profession is underrated, according to a recent survey that found people underestimate teachers' salaries and career potential. More than one-fourth of those surveyed believe the starting salary for a teacher London is £19,000 or lower, but new teachers actually earn £26,000. Officials say the poor regard for the teaching profession might turn away many potential candidates.
