Construction of $418M Santa Teresa rail in N.M. may start in 2011

Union Pacific told a New Mexico House Committee that it is ready to move forward with plans to construct an extensive rail system in Dona Ana County this year. The $418 million plan was delayed twice due to property acquisition disputes followed by the economic crisis. The project could mean 3,000 construction jobs and, when finished, 600 full-time jobs.
