Research finds menus' calorie counts can be confusing

Columbia University nursing students analyzed calorie counts for 200 menu items at fast-food restaurants in New York City's Harlem neighborhood and found that while most complied with the city's nutrition-label law, the counts were not always useful. The study in the Journal of Urban Health found that calorie counts for individual servings were easy to understand, but not those for items that served more than one person, such as buckets of chicken.
