U.S. might reach $16.4 trillion debt ceiling close to Election Day

The U.S. could reach the $16.4 trillion debt ceiling just weeks after Election Day, according to an analysis from the Bipartisan Policy Center. Many analysts think the government can borrow under the limit well into next year, but the BPC finds that "unexpected circumstances" might cause the government to hit the debt ceiling much sooner.
