Advisers' pay increases as firms expand and boost profit

Strong growth among financial-advisory firms is showing up in advisers' compensation. Between 2010 and 2012, compensation for CEOs and presidents rose about 18%, according to the Financial Planning Association's Financial Planning Compensation Study. For three levels of financial planners, pay climbed about 12%.
