Costs could go up for API distributors in Europe

Firms that transport active pharmaceutical ingredients in European Union countries could face increased costs of doing business if draft guidelines issued earlier this month are adopted. The guidelines would require distributors to have quality management and risk identification procedures, appoint key personnel at distributions points, be registered under the Falsified Medicines directive and ensure warehouses are capable of protecting shipments, among other provisions.
