EPA scraps plans for fourth rule requiring data on high production volume chemicals

The Environmental Protection Agency has decided against issuing a fourth regulation requiring basic health and environmental toxicity and physical-chemical data on high production volume chemicals. The EPA has not yet set a timeline for formally withdrawing the fourth HPV test rule, proposed in 2011. At that time, the American Chemistry Council and other groups advised the agency that the rule was no longer necessary.
