Health care law gives a boost to advertising, media firms

The Affordable Care Act is pushing up ad spending and is expected to create gains for media and advertising companies in the health care and political segments. Emmis Communications projects a 12% to 15% increase in health care advertising in 2014. The ACA could lead to a "completely new" ad category because companies in smaller markets need a way to get out precise location and contact information, said Benchmark Co. media analyst Edward Atorino.
